The Prodigal

O.k. This is SO weird. I know that we have all had these experiences, but when it happens, it just is FReAkY !! I was vacuuming downstairs this week (I know I know, what a novel idea!) and what should be on the pool table but.... Apparently it was in the burning pile and Son #2 found it and was going to leave it there, but because it had so many empty pages, he put it on the pool table. He gets the toonie reward. I feel so much better! It was just like PooF ! and there it was gone and then PooF there it came back. "Then [s]he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost [book]." ....Luke 15:6

It's time to Celebrate

Image
Today marks the day that 100th person read this blog. Whoo Hoo! I decided a little while ago, that when that happened, I would give recognition to the thousands....I mean hundreds....no, actually, the several of you who faithfully read this blog and occasionally leave me a comment. I have a lot of fun thinking of what incredibly important things I have to say and how to say it. It is giving me lots of practice in writing, which I am realizing that I really enjoy. Your comments are what keep me going...and I thank you very much for checking back once in a while to see what's new. So break out the party favors, open up the champagne (or sparkling apple juice if you prefer) and throw down the confetti! This blog is into the double digits!

I'm Sick!

Do you ever have this dilemma? You feel lousy, but on a scale of 1-10, you aren't at 10. And you are supposed to go to work. In my growing up days if we were sick, we had to stay in bed and we couldn't do any other extra curricular activities. The nice thing was that my mom would always make time to bring a tray to me, with chicken soup and muffins [and Sprite to drink]. So now, as an adult, when I don't feel well, I have an ongoing conversation in my head. Do I feel bad enough to stay home? Or should I muscle it through and go to work? If I stay home, will I truly rest? Or will I try and get some things done on my list. If I feel well enough to do some things on my list, then perhaps I am well enough to go to work. On the other hand, I work in a health care facility and perhaps it's not a good idea to spread germs to everyone there. But then again, I can plan my day, so that I can avoid too much close contact ...... and on and on it goes..... I don't think I am s...

Motherhood

Image
So, Sunday is Mother's Day. I have been celebrating it all week at work with various groups that I have run, so I have been thinking a lot about it. I have narrowed down what I want to say about Mother's Day by quoting from the card that mom gave me when my daughter was born . Now that you're a mother, I'm wondering if that sweet baby in your arms gives you any idea of the joy and the love I felt when I had you. One day, I hope to pass this message on to each of my children.

I think I am officially allergic to eyeshadow. I have tried many different combinations of eyeshadow techniques. Eyeliner alone, mascara alone, switching eye shadows. Today I tried a 'hypo allergic' kind with eyeliner and I have been paying the price ever since. My eyes are blurry, and itchy and weeping. boo hoo hoo. I have been able to tolerate mascara alone. But all the fun has gone out of decorating myself up. Foundation, blush, lipstick and mascara...and that's it baby. I guess I can be glad that I still can use those.

ROSE

This is a story I found several years ago and was inspired by it. I often tell people about this story. I found it again today and thought I would share it with you. [p.s. the part in italics is what I quote - I think it is so great because we get so caught up in comparing ourselves to our age - ] Rose's Dream The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may! ", and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple...
