It's Been a Long, Long, Time

I know it has been a very long time since I last blogged.  Let's just say, I have had a lot going on.  


One of the new additions to my life has been a weekly car-pooling exercise with my youngest son.  He has been working in construction at the top of the hill.  I get up at the crack of terribly early to get ready for the work day. He sleeps in the van while I drive and listen to the radio.  One of the nicest things about this drive is that I get to spend time with him - a luxury that had all but disappeared until a couple of months ago.  


Another benefit is the view I get for my efforts.  The worksite overlooks the valley.  It doesn't matter what kind of day it is, the view is speck tack i-lar.
  

I decided to embrace the opportunity to car-pool with him and reward myself with a coffee at the bottom of the hill while I wait til it is time for me to go to bed work.  I usually listen to a sermon or two while I wait as well, so as to fill up my soul as well as my body.

On the way home, we usually have a better chance to chat.  It is the end of the work day by then, and each of us is more awake and ready to talk.  We have had some really good conversations about everything and nothing at the same time.  I appreciate his perspective on life and his openness to letting me in on some of the things he is thinking about.  
Small sacrifices for great gain.

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. Freedom

I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to. The corollary of getting rid of what is expired is that I now have room to add a couple new pairs. ...
