Birthday Party


Take a beautiful setting such as a "Friendship Garden" in the city and it makes a wonderful backdrop for a Friendship Birthday Gig.  Some of the ingredients included a thermos of hot water and a small tub, for the birthday girl to soak her feet while the henna was being applied.  Other ingredients were a warm summer evening and the element of surprise - we just showed up at her door with and took her away for the evening.  






The three of us have been friends for a very long time, and the birthday girl had celebrated a milestone.  As it turned out, we had to postpone our celebration of it because of conflicting schedules, but in the end it was a lovely way to extend welcoming her to the "Ruby" club.


We took our time with the events we had planned for the evening,  and ended up at a private venue for a birthday tea.  While the tea was being steeped, she got to enjoy a mini-pedicure and foot massage.  Caramel corn and other goodies made their way to the table.  Fresh strawberries, shrimp appys and sumptuous chocolate cupcakes topped off the celebration.  
We spent time eating and talking and laughing and sharing memories.
It was a lovely evening, reminiscent of days gone by, with promise of other friendship celebrations to come.

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. Today, it is eighteen years since that bright, blue-skies February morning when he made his debut. It has been eighteen years of many wonderful memories. Freedom

I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to.
