End of the Line

We did it!  We made it through another school year.  PHEW!  Now there's only those pesky exams left.  Exams schmams.  We are all relieved.  We want to revel in our accomplishments before we have to dig in to studying.

We have made it a tradition to celebrate the end of school by taking the student(s) out for dinner.  That's what we did last night.  His choice.  And he drove.  During dinner, he suggested that we go to a movie.

Normally on a Fried-ay  Friday night, we are in our jammies at 6:23 pm and settling in for a relaxing night at home, but we were having a great time celebrating the accomplishment of finishing the scholastic challenges and so we all went out to the movie.

Friday night movies ain't what they used to be. Theaters are no longer the place to be on a Friday night.   There were only two other people in the theater.  It was like having a living room in another building.  I even took a blanket in to cozy up while we watched.  The only thing we couldn't do was press pause to go get a snack, or rewind to catch the dialogue a little better.  The movie was very entertaining and as a bonus, it was in 3D!

So.                     much.               fun!

I was struck again with how blessed we are that the school boy doesn't mind spending that much time with his old mom and dad.  It was (as the alien Griffin says in the movie) " My new favorite moment in the universe. "

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. Today, it is eighteen years since that bright, blue-skies February morning when he made his debut. It has been eighteen years of many wonderful memories. Freedom

I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to.
