My Favourite Things #4

The tree. The tree.  Ah the beautiful tree.

But before that, these:

Generally there is a natural disaster that occurs when approaching the tree-felling/decorating event. Needles fall off the tree faster than the water flows down Niagara Falls.....  The lantern fails to light. .... It's too cold and the children stand in one spot and cry they can no longer feel their feet.  .....they get one boot stuck in the mud and are too embarrassed to say anything until the family has arrived back home.  ....SOMEONE forgets to bring rope and SOMEONE ELSE has to ride home with their arm out the window, desperately clutching one branch to stop the tree from falling off the roof while the cold wind whistles past.  .........the discovery that there is only one way to let it stand in the corner because it only has one good side, but SOMEONE failed to notice that little detail when the flashlight shone on it in the field.....or it is too big to fit in the stand and SOMEONE has to get out the chop saw to carve it into a shape that will fit into the space allotted.....which takes way longer than anticipated and by then the children are beating each other up with leftover wrapping paper tubes...and the mom, who was going to make hot chocolate and marshmallows to celebrate the homecoming of the tree discovers there is no hot chocolate and has to resort to hot water with a sprig of evergreen for flavour..........standing upright for more than twenty-two minutes...maintain it's moisture level after the disastrous filling of the tree stand canister, where the water spilled over and the family had to use up all the towels to mop it up. ...proving that it can hold the weight of the over sized ornaments that the children made in Kindergarten, Grade One, and Grade Two....the concession to being wired to the ceiling after falling down twice and wrecking the last two decent ornaments the family had. ....surviving the annual fight over who gets to place the angel on top.  .... and then.....

The tree. The tree. Ah the beautiful tree.

Your series of pictures look like you live in a DESIGNER HOME!! and now the DESIGNER tree.

Bravo!!

In our case, I folded a Peruvian woolen poncho in four, underneath the four legs of the tree, so that we can move the entire tree to get out the immediately adjacent door to the deck, without fear of scratching the laminate floor with the back and forth tree sliding...

SOLUTIONS!!!

This post made me laugh out loud...maybe because it brought back memories as you described them so well! Enjoy your tree!
