Good Consumer Decision

A couple weeks ago, on a Sunday, my husband and I were trying to decide what to do for the afternoon.  It was a hot and sunny day.  We thought of going for a bike ride, but our son had already commandeered the bikes.  So instead, we hopped in the truck and headed out to see where the day would take us.

We ended up at "Granny and Grumpa's".  This is a place we had heard about from a variety of people.  It's the stuff of legends.  "They have sooo much stuff; they might sell it to you, they might not".  "There are no prices on anything.  You have to negotiate with them on their terms." "It's amazing."

We knew it was fairly close to The Pokeaway.  Still it was a surprise to find it just down the road, make a left and then another left.  We spent several hours perusing their barns.
There was a sign that struck me funny posted on the first barn:

"We buy junk, and sell antiques"

It turned out to be true.  They had one of everything and multiples of everything else.  There was no end of things to look at.  Most of it would fall into the antique category. Old farm implements.  Old vehicles.  Instruments. Signs.  Furniture.  Cups.  Saucers.  Pinball machines.

You name it, they had it. And, if they didn't have it,  they knew where to find it.  Of all the things we looked at, this was my favourite:

I suppose I could have taken a bunch more pictures, but I have left that to others.  If you are  interested, you can just GOOGLE the name Gramma and Grumpa's and you will find posts about them, with lots of pictures of what's in the barns.

The best part of the afternoon, for me had nothing to do with all that stuff.  It was that we met up with our son and his biking buddy.  They had zoomed all over the back roads and ended up in exactly the same place as we did.

We decided to celebrate this serendipitous event by having a dinner out.

So we went to our new favourite restaurant at a local golf course,  and enjoyed each other's company.  It was a much better consumer decision, than adding more junk to our collection, and a very lovely way to wrap up an afternoon out on the town.
