The Christmas Tree
It was just the three of us. The time had come to go get the Christmas tree. My husband had done his research and found a local tree farm that we could walk to.
My husband loves walking around the neighbourhood. And a tree hunt was the perfect opportunity. Off we went, with our wagon, to find the perfect tree. Of course, we waited until the snow was flying in our faces, our little noses were completely frozen, and we couldn't talk very well, because our lips were stuck in one position from the cold. It's in the rules. "Getting the Christmas tree must be an adventure. "
We walked down the street and around the corner, [calling the dog back many times from her explorations of the frozen grass]. And then we knocked on the window of the house of the young tree farmer. He came out, and gave us the hack saw. We tramped out in the field, looking for the perfect tree. After a bit, we found one. Actually, they were all in good shape, but it wouldn't do to choose the first one you see.
My son was the chosen one. He got to chop it down. This has been a job reserved for my husband until now. I'm not sure why he felt he had to lie down to chop the tree. Perhaps he wanted to be a "Tide" commercial?
And just so you know, he didn't cut the tree down like the picture is showing. This was after it was cut down, and he had a little more energy to burn off.

This was after it was cut down, and he had a little more energy to burn off.At any rate, a short time later, we had our tree. We paid the young tree farmer his dues, and put the tree in the wagon and brought it home. And that my friend is where the adventure began.
Instead of taking the road we had come on, my husband insisted we be like the wisemen, and take a different route home. Through the B.L.A.C.K.B.E.R.R.I.E.S. Fun for the whole family. The wagon dumped the tree a few times, so my son resorted to blazing the trail through the blackberry bushes with the tree on his back. My husband was next, bringing the wagon, which I had to keep lifting over the branches it got stuck on. And finally, I brought up the rear. He told me it was my fault for following too close, when one of the branches hit me. So after that, I kept my distance.

After warming up, and drying out, and having the pre-requisite hot chocolate,
we set the tree up.
And then waited for my daughter to arrive, so that we could decorate it as a family. And this is what they came up with.
Now all we need is some presents. [ And the boxes put away]
