Half a Thousand
This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is my 500th post. You may recall that I made some sort of rash promise about reaching this milestone. That I would do something brilliant to celebrate the fact that I have posted 500 times about who-knows-what.
Privately, I thought that perhaps by now, I would have been hunted down by some book editor, who would realize the brilliance with which I express myself, and would convince me to sign a book deal - with a huge advance on publishing my thoughts. Clearly, this was a pipe dream.
I wouldn't even know how many posts I have blogged except that my lovely partners here at blogger.com keep track for me. If they hadn't said so, I would have thought I was still closer to one tenth of a thousand instead of one half of a thousand.
So....tap, tap, tap, on the keyboard,....get up to get a Diet Coke.....wander into the bedroom to get my jammies on....and then contemplate...think, think...think....what fabulously brilliant way can I mark this momentous post?................no.....not that....well...perhap...s..nope...
Ok, since I am a junkie for numbers (even though I am not blessed with being accurate about math), I will start by looking at the kinds of posts with which I have blessed all you readers out there in the cyber community.
Although it's not an exhaustive list, (that would be too exhausting) let's see what I've done...
I've had:
11 Good Ideas,
29 Life Lessons,
4 Not So Guilty Pleasures,
and published 32 Little Bits of Nothing.
I've talked about Farm Life 10 times,
Blessings of different sorts 44 times,
and sent myself 11 Sympathy Cards.
Technically, I've had fun learning some new skills. I've learned how to post videos, how tocross out words , how to cut and paste pictures, and several other techno-girl techniques which have made me feel" oh - so - with - it" ... that is until my kids come in, and see me struggling with how to express certain things, and show me how to "รง "or £ with just the stroke of the Alt button and the number pad.
It has been great fun finding my voice, and playing with words to see how they end up on the page. Mostly, I have enjoyed knowing that somewhere out there are people who for no other reason than just to check in, are reading this blog. My family has had to become indulgent of me taking pictures of odd things for my posts. [Really? Burnt Brownie? You're kidding right? Organized Cupboard? Whatever for? Oh...yah, ...that]
My husband knows where to find me if I have gone quiet. His nickname for me has become "Blogalicious". I even have a photo file with that name now. And my #1 son gave me a t-shirt for Christmas which he had specially made -
[on the back is www.onepartinspiration.blogspot] They even make suggestions about topics I upon which I could wax eloquent.
Some posts have been short (quotes) - and some have been long (Guilt and Other Places I have Visited). Some have given me no end of entertainment as I have written them (mainly late at night, when I can hardly see the keyboard) and others have been felt more like "well- I -won't be- invited- back- for - awhile " type posts.
I have meandered down many paths - voicing my opinions, formulating thoughts, passing on ideas, and keeping track of family life. Every once in a while, I return to my early blogs and look at what I have done. It's a little like keeping a journal. Even though it's public, I get to share a little bit of my private journey.
It will be fun to look back in a while to see what happens in the next 500 posts. It's like having a memory album for remembering the milestones, the miracles, the trials and triumphs of every-day, ordinary life. Happy Half-Thousand Posts!
