Simplifiying Christmas



10. Play Christmas music off the "Holiday Traditional" on the T.V. That way you don't have to search for your own collection. [But just in case... Anyone seen my "Bebo Norman" Christmas C.D.?]

9. Buy ready-made quiches on sale, and save them for Christmas Eve. Pop them into the oven, and pull out in 10 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy the comments of your happy and spoiled family.

8. Go to Value Village and have a good look around. Bring home the cheapest seasonal cookie cutters you can find (two bits each) and make your cookies - throw out the Santa and the angel. They just look like puzzle pieces anyways. Use a plastic glass to substitute for your rolling pin, which you mistakenly thought you wouldn't need when packing up the house.

7. Send friendly emails to your friends with whom you want to touch base over the holidays, but haven't had time to snail-mail message them.

6. Decide your co-workers might enjoy a tin of coffee for the staff room - rather than buying them all individual bits of nothing.

5. Gas fireplace. Need I say more? Early morning, late at night -how festive!

4. Hang random gift ornament on your doorknob to fool the neighbours into thinking you've decorated the whole place. What they don't know...

3. Go for a light tour and enjoy other people's trees. The crooked ones won't fall and break your antique ornaments this year; and you won't have to dismantle the store-front imitations after the season is finished. Rejoice in the minimal amount of work this makes for you.

2. Surf the net for all sorts of Christmas stories -" for" your groups. This way, you fill up your soul with all the feel-good tales out there, and get some choice selections for the Christmas programs. Enjoy the work others have put into their websites - the graphics and backgrounds are gorgeous. Pick one and save it as your desktop background and you can look good to anyone who pokes their head into the office.

1. Pull out the Christmas music, and play the piano to your heart's content for lunch-time entertainment at work. You don't have to socialize, and you get to enjoy the challenge of making everything old new again.

Christmas is more joyful when it's simple...something I usually do light a candle everytime I sit down.

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to.
