Sing, Sing A Song..

Every year, it is my pleasure to coordinate some Christmas songs for our staff choir to sing. We have tried all sorts of combinations - well known songs, little known songs, songs we have danced to, songs we have done sign language for...

This year, one of my co-workers asked if I knew this song. She brought in the words for me, and then I Googled it to see if I could find the music. There are lots of different versions of it. I like this one, because it told a story of why Clay Aiken chose to sing it. ( In case you don't know, he is the runner up of Season Two of American Idol)

"Oh Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" has turned out to be my favorite staff choir song of this season. Somewhere deep inside of me, a Southern Gospel musician is waiting to get out. Wednesday will be the last time we sing it, and I am a little sorry not to have any more opportunities to share it.

I will share it with you in this version. Hope you enjoy it. Especially the story he tells before he sings.

your cheery ideas on this blog give food for talk as we walk to Newby's Bay...my little angels are all polished (vinegar & soda, and a stainless steel pot) and ready for 8 on Christmas morning... breakfast also includes a pannetone (breadmaker-to-the-dough-stage-then-formed-in-a-tree-to-rise-over-night-and-bake-Christmas-morning) Christmas tree, and Apple Streusal Muffins, plus b.a.lee's mahvlous omelette.

thanks for all the thoughts you share here. Certainly you've looked at Christmas differently this year, and that has ended up "being a good thing"....the letting go sometimes has pain, but then brings unexpected joys that surprise us....that's also somewhat my own story this year. There's a long line from B.C. to M.I.

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to.
