Thanksgiving Project #7 - God Bless the Child


I want to give equal time to my children. So I am going to split up my thankfulness into three each with one left over. (I didn't realize this project would test my math too!)
  1. My daughter is a person who 'goes for the gold' - she has a steely determination to accomplish much. And she has already.
  2. My daughter has very sparkly brown eyes. When she is excited about something, it is infectious - and I love to watch her eyes shine as she describes what it is she's planning.
  3. My daughter is a very thoughtful person. Over and over again, I have seen her reach out to others to let them know how important they are to her. This could be in the form of a note, or picking up a Starbucks and bringing it to them to encourage them, or involving them in her life.
  1. My # 1 son has incredible insight about life. He expresses that in so many ways. One of these ways is through humor.
  2. My # 1 son tells me every day that he loves me (Recently, he changed it to "Mommy, I am loving you " when I told him that love was an action word, not a descriptive word -)
  3. My #1 son is a person who can relate to many different types of people in many different situations.
  1. My #2 son is a person who processes what life hands him through a grid of optimism and good grace.
  2. My #2 son is a person who rises to the occasion when he is asked to take on a new responsibility.
  3. My #2 son doesn't need to have the best of everything to create adventures.
10. I am very grateful for the gift of children. More than that, I am grateful for each one of my crack-a lacking great kids. (a vague reference to the movie "Madagascar")

Isn't he just the sweetest thing? Those dark eyes turned blue and the black hair turned blond, and too quickly, this little guy grew taller than his dad and me. Today, it is eighteen years since that bright, blue-skies February morning when he made his debut. It has been eighteen years of many wonderful memories. Very early, I heard him chuckle at his sister's antics. He used to crawl on his belly, pulling himself along with his elbows. Freedom

I decided to make March my month to release the expired. So far...   I have thrown out all makeup with less than one drop in the bottom of the jar.    I finally dumped the cauliflower in cheeze sauce I made for Christmas dinner.      I threw out the Pepto Bismol from 2010 - not even opened. It feels good to be rid of them.  It also makes me happy that I won't have to worry about bacteria in old makeup   And that my husband won't get sick from my cooking    And that my health has been good enough not to need the Pepto Bismol at all. Inspired by these events, I went through my closets. It is almost time to swap the winter for the summer.  My winter clothes seemed to have stood the test of time for now.  However, my shoes were showing major signs of wear.  I decided on two pairs that I need to say "Farewell" to.
