My exciting Day

This blog post is about the trip to see the Titanic. It was an exciting day - this is how it went. Up early, get to the ferry, go to the gift shop and see all the high priced things you can do without. Buy food. Eat food. Walk around looking at people who were smarter than you and brought a portable computer so they could watch a movie instead of spending their money on food. Drive to Victoria, find your way around. Park. Borrow money from son to pay for parking. Walk to the museum. Offer to take pictures of tourists who are in Victoria taking pictures of each other. Pay entrance fee. Find your way to the exhibit. Fight the crowd of high-school students who really have no idea the value of the exhibit they are "studying". Try to absorb as much of the exhibit as you can before your stomach pangs take over and you realize it is late afternoon, and you haven't eaten. Go back to vehicle. Drive to harbor area. Park again. Decide to try a different kind of restaurant - a fancy schmancy restaurant. Sit down in restaurant and look more closely at the menu. Realize that not only is it food that you don't want to eat, but the prices are way over your limit. Walk out of the restaurant. Say thank you to the maitre d' (who thinks you have enjoyed a fine meal at his fine restaurant). Go to the dive across the street and spend less than half the money for greasy-grimy-gopher-guts. Wander about quickly and decide not to buy any souvenirs. Make a dash for the return ferry. Miss the return ferry. Wait for another two hours. Wander around the terminal. Buy more food. Talk yourself out of buying other souvenirs that won't mean anything once you get them home. Watch the ferry arrive. Board ferry. Decide on a place to sit. Decide on a different place to sit when you realize you are in the small (screaming, chasing, jumping, thumping) children's section. Read book that you have been meaning to read for a couple of months. Get distracted by people in front of you who talk so loud, you can't help but learn about their aunt Mary's terrible disease. Decide to muscle through the awful thirst until you reach the mainland. Arrive at the mainland. Work your way through the traffic and construction until you reach a point at which you feel your daughter could take over. Play Chinese Fire Drill and let her take over the wheel at a long red light. Make it home. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Put freshly washed sheets in dryer -mentally wishing you'd put them in this morning before you left. - wait for them to dry. BLog about "my exciting day".

well, you may have had a bit of a detour from your dream idea of heading across the pond but it sure made for an intersting read. I had to snicker as I came across a few dejavu's throughout the post.

Have a wonderful weekend.
